One master, every European market: AI video localisation
Running a campaign across the EU means many languages, formats and cultural cuts. AI turns one master into every market's version without a reshoot per country.
A campaign that runs across Europe hits the same wall every time: one video, many markets, each wanting its own language, its own length, sometimes its own cultural read. The traditional fix is expensive, dub and re-edit per country, or reshoot for the big ones, so most brands localise only the top two or three markets and let the rest run a subtitled compromise. AI removes the reason to ration.
The old cost of going multi-market
Localisation used to mean a chain of vendors: a translation house, a dubbing studio, an editor to re-cut for each platform, a scramble when a market wanted a different opening. Every step added cost and days, so the fifth-largest market got whatever was cheapest, usually burnt-in subtitles on a video made for somewhere else. The work was real, and it scaled linearly: twice the markets, roughly twice the bill.
What AI changes
Build the master once, and the market versions become variations rather than new productions. A German cut, an Italian cut, an English cut, each with the right voice, the right on-screen text, the right pacing, come off the same master at a fraction of the per-market cost. Formats travel the same way: the 16:9 for a site, the 9:16 for a feed, the short cut for pre-roll, all from one build. What used to be a linear cost curve flattens.
Localisation is more than translation
The part brands underrate is that a good market version is not a translated one. A joke that lands in one country falls flat in another; a pace that feels premium in one feels slow in another; the call to action changes with the funnel in each market. Because a variation is cheap, you can do this properly, tune the cut to the market instead of translating the words and hoping. That is the difference between “available in Italian” and “made for Italy.”
Where it fits a real rollout
The pattern that works: prove the creative in one market with a pilot, lock the master once it performs, then spin the localised set for the rest of Europe in days. You launch everywhere close to together instead of trickling market by market over a quarter, and every market gets a version made for it rather than a hand-me-down. For a brand with an EU-wide calendar, that is the difference between a campaign and a staggered series of compromises.
The honest limit
If a market needs a different creative, not a version but a new idea, that is a new master, and we will say so. Localisation stretches one strong idea across markets; it does not turn a wrong idea right. But for the common case, one campaign, many countries, the leverage is exactly where a European brand needs it.
